Patrick McDonald is an attorney at Barbosa Law Group PLLC, where he joined in January 2026. He has more than four and a half years of experience practicing family law and regularly assists clients with a wide range of family law matters, providing practical, client-focused guidance throughout the legal process.

In addition to family law, Patrick also assists clients with estate planning and business law matters. His estate planning practice includes the preparation of Wills, Trusts, Health Care Directives, and Powers of Attorney, helping clients plan for the future with clarity and confidence. He also works with small businesses on a variety of business law needs.

Patrick grew up in the small town of Welcome, Minnesota, where he worked on a family farm through his law school years, an experience that shaped his strong work ethic and grounded approach to problem-solving. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2014 and went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2018. Patrick is licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota.

Before joining Barbosa Law Group PLLC, Patrick worked closely with Beth Barbosa for approximately four and a half years at her former law firm, where he focused extensively on family law matters. Earlier in his career, Patrick developed a diverse legal background while working as a law clerk, and later as an associate attorney, at a small personal injury firm in Minneapolis. In that role, he represented clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including many immigrants, refined his legal research and writing skills, and gained appellate experience, including work on Staub v. Myrtle Lake Resort et al., a case that established new law regarding proof of causation. Patrick also gained additional experience in family and immigration law while working as a paralegal for a solo practitioner in Savage, Minnesota.

Patrick lives in Rosemount with his family, stepson, dog, and cat. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and watching movies.
